Mouth
Diabetes patients are more prone to periodontal disease, which affects the gums and bones, leading to pain, bad breath, difficulty chewing, swollen and bleeding gums, and even tooth loss. Diabetes can also cause dry mouth and oral thrush (acute inflammation of the oral mucosa), as elevated glucose levels in saliva contribute to the formation of painful white patches in the mouth.
Treatment: Regularly visit the dentist to deeply clean your teeth or do a gum surgery.
Diabetic retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy happens in the retina (back layer of the eye, functioning as light sensitive and sending images to the brain through the optic nerve). It may cause vision loss and blindness because the high blood sugar caused by diabetes can affect blood vessels in the retina. After a prolonged time, these damaged blood vessels in the eye can leak fluid, leading to blurry vision. In some cases, new, weak blood vessels grow on the retina, which can cause serious vision problems or even blindness.
In the early stages, it is often difficult to detect and may have no symptoms. However, some may experience vision changes (such as blurriness), which are often overlooked. In the later stages, high blood sugar can damage the blood vessels in the retina, causing them to bleed into the vitreous humor.
Symtomes:
-
Black floating spots
-
Streaks resembling spiderwebs
-
High blood sugar can damage the blood vessels in the retina, causing them to bleed into the vitreous humor.
If these occur, seek medical treatment immediately! Delaying treatment may lead to scar formation at the back of the eye, and recurrent bleeding can become more severe, ultimately resulting in blindness.

But Also...
Diabetic retinopathy may lead to other problems:
-
Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetic Maculopathy (DME): Blurred vision caused by the leakage of blood from blood vessels in retina to Macula.
-
Neovascular glaucoma: A type of glaucoma happens when some abnormal blood vessels grow on the retina and blaco the liquids from the eye, which may feel Xerophthalmia.
-
Retinal detachment: Happens when the scar (caused by diabetic retinopathy) at the back of eye pulled retina away from the eye.
