Eating too much sweets will not “directly” cause diabetes but will increase the risk of getting type 2 diabetes since this eating habit can leads to overweight or insulin resistance. But after all, besides people with Type 1 diabetes, the keys points from getting diabetes are you living habits, including exercise and eating habits. Overall, too much sweets only influence the blood stability. If you are concerning about the risk pf diabetes, it is better to pay attention on the overall eating habits and lifestyle rather then just focusing on the factor “how much sugar you eat”.
Rather than that, you may should:
Ingest sugar in moderation, avoid eating too much refined sugar.
Balanced diets with enough nutritions (protein, fibers, carbohydrate, and healthy fat).
Exercise regularly to help the body maintain the blood sugar level.
